FairSweep requests only the permission it needs to function:
You can revoke or limit this permission at any time in iOS Settings › FairSweep. If you grant only limited access, FairSweep will explain that a cleaner works best with full library access, but it never accesses more than iOS lets you allow.
Duplicate and similar-shot detection uses Apple's Vision framework and runs entirely on your iPhone. The visual "fingerprints" used to compare photos are computed and cached locally on your device and are never transmitted to any server — not ours, not a cloud vision API. We do not see, log, or store the content of any photo or video in your library.
FairSweep never deletes anything silently. Photos you swipe left are only staged inside the app; nothing is removed until you review the list and confirm the standard iOS system deletion prompt. Deletion is performed by iOS itself, and deleted items move to your Photos app's Recently Deleted album, where Apple keeps them for up to 30 days before removing them permanently (you can also empty Recently Deleted yourself to reclaim the space immediately). FairSweep cannot bypass or empty Recently Deleted — that is an Apple safeguard, and we think it is a good one.
The optional Pro upgrade ($9.99, one-time — no subscription) is processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. FairSweep never sees your payment method, Apple ID, or billing details. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.
FairSweep uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand whether the app works and how its features are used. Here is exactly what that means:
These events never include your photos, video content, file names, albums, location data, or anything that identifies you personally. FairSweep does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because it does not track you across apps or websites, shows no ads, and contains no ad network SDK. Firebase data is processed by Google on our behalf and is governed by Google's Firebase privacy documentation. We never sell or share any of this data.
FairSweep requires no sign-up, no email address, no phone number, and no social login. There is no FairSweep account and no FairSweep server that stores your identity or any photo you have ever swiped.
To be explicit about what FairSweep does not do:
FairSweep is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone of any age.
Because FairSweep stores no photos and no personal data on any server, there is no FairSweep database of your photos to breach. If your device is compromised, that is governed by Apple's device security model — we recommend using a strong passcode and Face ID/Touch ID.
Your photos, swipe history, staging tray, and lifetime "GB freed" statistics live only on your device and are deleted when you delete FairSweep or clear them yourself. Anonymous analytics and crash data are retained by Firebase for a limited period (up to 14 months for analytics) and then deleted or aggregated per Google's retention policy.
If this policy ever changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes. Continued use of FairSweep after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
