All data you enter — period dates, cycle length, symptoms, mood, flow, and notes — is saved locally using Apple's CoreData framework on your device. This storage is encrypted by iOS at rest (requires device passcode / Face ID to access). We never receive a copy of this data.
If you enable iCloud sync in Luna Local's settings, your data is synced through Apple's CloudKit private database. This is your own personal iCloud account; the data is end-to-end encrypted by Apple where the platform supports it and is accessible only to you on your signed-in devices. Luna Local has no access to your CloudKit data — Apple's servers route the sync without exposing the content to us.
You can disable iCloud sync at any time in iOS Settings › Apple ID › iCloud › Luna Local. Disabling sync does not delete local data.
If you grant HealthKit access, Luna Local can read and write menstrual cycle data (period start dates, cycle length) to Apple Health. This access is governed by Apple's HealthKit privacy framework:
Luna Local contains no analytics SDK (no Amplitude, Mixpanel, Firebase, Segment, or equivalent). It contains no crash reporting service (no Sentry, Crashlytics, or equivalent). Zero network requests are made for observability purposes.
If you choose to submit a crash report via Apple's standard iOS crash reporter dialog, that report goes to Apple and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We may receive anonymised, aggregated crash data from Apple's App Store Connect dashboard; this never identifies you and contains no cycle data.
Luna Local contains no advertising SDK and shows no ads. We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework because we have nothing to track.
Optional Pro purchases (one-time or yearly subscription) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit 2. We never see your payment details, card number, or Apple ID email. Apple's privacy policy governs payment processing.
If you grant notification permission, Luna Local schedules local notifications on-device (e.g., period reminders). No notification content is sent to any server. Scheduling happens on your device only. You can revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings › Notifications › Luna Local.
Luna Local does not read, store, or transmit any device identifier — not IDFA, not IDFV, not the device serial number. There is no identifier to associate with your logs.
Luna Local is not directed at children under 13. The App Store age rating reflects the health/medical category and the mature nature of the subject matter. Luna Local collects no personal data from any user.
Because we hold no data, there is nothing for us to delete on request. All your data lives on your devices. To delete it:
Luna Local integrates with no third-party services beyond Apple's own frameworks (CloudKit, HealthKit, StoreKit, CoreData, UserNotifications). All of Apple's own data handling is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
If this policy ever changes, the date above will be updated and the changes will be noted in the app's release notes. A material change that increases data collection would also require your explicit consent before taking effect — though we intend never to collect data at all.
