Terms of Use

Last updated: 30 June 2026 — ClearSpend v1.1

The short version: ClearSpend is a personal budgeting tool, not financial advice. Solo use needs no account and stays on your device. The optional Shared Wallet feature requires sign-in and a subscription, and lets you and one invited person co-manage one wallet — you are each responsible for what you enter and share. You can always leave and keep a local copy of your data.

1. Acceptance

By downloading or using ClearSpend ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. These terms are between you and Moath Othman ("we," "us"), the app's developer.

2. The Apple standard licence (EULA)

ClearSpend is licensed, not sold, to you. Unless we provide a separate signed agreement, your licence to use the app is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), and these Terms supplement it. Where these Terms and Apple's standard EULA conflict on the licence itself, the EULA controls; on everything specific to ClearSpend (such as Shared Wallet conduct and data ownership), these Terms control.

3. The app is not financial advice

ClearSpend is a tool for tracking and budgeting your own money for general awareness. It is not financial, investment, accounting, or tax advice and is not a substitute for a qualified professional. You are responsible for your financial decisions. All figures in the app are the ones you enter; we do not connect to your bank and do not verify your data.

4. Your account (Shared Wallet only)

Solo use requires no account. If you use Shared Wallet, you must sign in (Sign in with Apple, Google, or email) and keep your sign-in secure. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to create an account. You are responsible for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time in the app's settings.

5. Shared Wallet conduct and two-party data

Shared Wallet lets you and one other person you invite ("members") view and edit one shared set of records. By inviting someone or accepting an invite, you each understand and agree that:

6. Subscriptions and purchases

ClearSpend offers a free tier, optional one-time and annual Pro purchases, and a Household subscription that unlocks Shared Wallet. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store; payment, billing, and renewals are governed by your Apple ID terms. Auto-renewing subscriptions renew until cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel them in your Apple ID settings. If a Household subscription lapses, your shared wallet becomes read-only and exportable — it is never deleted. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.

7. Acceptable use

Do not misuse the app: do not attempt to breach its security, access another household's data, reverse-engineer the service except as permitted by law, or use it for unlawful purposes. We may suspend access that threatens the security or integrity of the shared-wallet service for other users.

8. Availability and data integrity

We work hard to keep shared data accurate and never to lose or duplicate a transaction, but the Shared Wallet service is provided "as is" and depends on third-party infrastructure (Google Firebase, Apple). We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Keep your own exports of important data.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for financial decisions you make using the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. Where Apple is involved, Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of the standard EULA entitled to enforce it against you.

10. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected in the date above and in release notes. You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may discontinue features with reasonable notice; if we discontinue Shared Wallet, we will provide an export path before any data is removed.

11. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the developer's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country. Questions? Email dark2torch@gmail.com.
