Privacy Policy — Android
Effective 18 October 2026 · Applies to FairDocs: PDF Scanner & OCR for Android, on Google Play
The short version: FairDocs has no account and no sign-in, and
your documents never leave your device. Scans, imported files, recognised
(OCR) text, document names and signatures are processed and stored only on your phone. The
app contains no code that uploads them — there is no analytics, no crash reporting and
no server of ours that it talks to. FairDocs shows no ads at all, to anyone,
free or Pro, and it does not read your device's advertising ID. Exactly one thing involves
another company: buying Pro (Google Play and RevenueCat, which see the
purchase). We never sell data. Every detail is below.
This page is for the Android app. The iPhone and Mac versions of FairScan are
a different build with different data practices — they use Firebase analytics, crash
reporting and push notifications, none of which exist in the Android app. Neither build
shows ads. If you use FairScan on iPhone or Mac, read
the iOS and Mac policy instead.
1. What stays on your device
All of the following is created, processed and stored only on your phone, in the app's own
private storage, and is never transmitted anywhere by FairDocs:
- Scanned pages and the PDFs built from them.
- Files you import from your device.
- Recognised text (OCR). Text recognition runs on-device through Google's ML Kit; the
page images are not sent to a server for recognition.
- Document names and any other details you type.
- Signatures you draw and the documents you stamp them onto.
- Your App Lock preference.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Because none of it is on a server, there is nothing
for us to delete on your behalf and no way for us to see it.
2. Buying Pro
Pro is a one-time purchase. It removes ads and lifts the limit on how many documents you can
save. It unlocks no additional features — scanning, OCR, import, export, signing and App
Lock are free.
- Google Play processes the payment. We never see your card, your billing
address or your Google account.
- RevenueCat is the service that records whether this installation owns Pro,
so it can be restored. It receives the Play purchase details (product, purchase date, price,
status), an anonymous identifier it generates for this install, and basic device and app
information. It does not receive your name or email, and it never receives your documents.
This is why FairDocs' Google Play Data safety section declares Purchase history and
Device or other IDs as collected and shared.
3. Permissions the app asks for
- Camera — to scan pages. Images go straight into the app's private
storage.
- No photo or storage permission — importing uses Android's own file
picker, which hands FairDocs only the files you choose. The app never asks for access to
your photo library.
- Biometrics — for App Lock, if you turn it on. Your fingerprint or
face is handled entirely by Android and is never seen by, or sent to, FairDocs. App Lock is
off until you enable it, and it is free.
- Internet and network state — used only to complete and restore a
Pro purchase. Your documents are never sent anywhere.
4. What the Android app does NOT do
- No account, no sign-in, no password.
- No ads, for anyone. There is no advertising SDK in the app.
- No advertising ID. The app does not request or read it.
- No analytics and no crash reporting. The Android build contains no Firebase, no Crashlytics
and no analytics SDK of any kind.
- No push notifications, and no server of ours that the app contacts.
- No uploading of your documents, OCR text or signatures — the app contains no code to
send them anywhere.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
5. Service providers
- Google Play services / ML Kit — provides the document scanner and
on-device text recognition.
- Google Play Billing — processes the Pro purchase.
- RevenueCat — records Pro ownership so it can be restored (section 2).
6. Children
FairDocs is intended for people aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. It is not
part of Google Play's Families programme.
7. Changes to this policy
If the Android app's data practices change — for example if a feature is added that
sends something new — this page is updated before that version ships, and the effective
date above changes with it.
8. Contact
FairDocs is made by Moath Othman. For questions about this policy or a privacy request, email
