Everything you and your partner write and everything the app remembers about your ritual is stored only on your device. It is never uploaded, synced, or shared. There is no Kindling account and no Kindling database of your content. To be explicit, we do not:
To keep Kindling stable and to understand which parts of the app people find useful, Kindling uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. These collect a limited set of anonymous diagnostics:
This diagnostic data is not linked to your identity and never includes your answers, the question text, or anything you write. We use it only in aggregate to fix bugs and improve the app — not to profile you and not for advertising. Firebase's handling of this data is governed by Google's Firebase privacy documentation.
Everything Kindling remembers lives only on the phone the app is installed on:
This information is saved using Apple's and Google's on-device storage and is never uploaded anywhere. It is deleted when you delete Kindling or clear it yourself inside the app. Because none of your content exists on a server, there is no answer of yours that could ever be breached.
There is no sign-up, no cloud backup of your content managed by us, and no syncing of your answers between devices. The nightly ritual happens on one shared phone, and your answers stay on that phone. The only data that ever leaves your device is the anonymous diagnostics described above — never your answers.
Kindling can send an optional gentle nightly reminder if — and only if — you turn that reminder on yourself. These reminders are scheduled locally by your device; no notification content or schedule is sent to us or to any server. If you never enable the reminder, Kindling never asks for notification permission.
The optional Pro upgrade (a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime unlock) is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play, using their in-app purchase systems. Kindling never sees your payment method, Apple ID, Google account, or billing details. Those transactions are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy. To restore a purchase, Kindling asks the App Store or Google Play whether this account has already bought Pro — that check is handled by Apple/Google and does not create a Kindling account or reveal your identity to us.
Kindling is intended for couples and is not directed at children under 13. Kindling does not collect personal information that identifies anyone of any age — the only data collected is anonymous diagnostics that are not linked to any identity.
If this policy ever changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted in the App Store / Google Play release notes.
