Terms of Use

The short version: Mini Keyboard is a keyboard utility, not a cloud service — you type on your iPhone, and your Mac receives the keystrokes directly over your own Wi-Fi. It needs no account and keeps everything on your devices. Typing is free and is never gated; the optional Trackpad unlock is a single one-time purchase through Apple — there is no subscription and nothing ever renews. Use it only on Macs you own or are authorised to control, and remember that whatever you type is delivered to that Mac exactly as if you were sitting at it.

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the developer of Mini Keyboard ("we", "us"). By installing or using the Mini Keyboard iPhone app or the Mini Keyboard receiver app for Mac (together, "Mini Keyboard" or "the apps"), you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the apps.

2. The App Store licence

Mini Keyboard is licensed, not sold, to you. The iPhone app is distributed through Apple's App Store and the Mac app through the Mac App Store, and both are additionally governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where the Mac app is offered as a direct download from our website instead, the same licence in these Terms applies to that copy; verify the published checksum before installing a downloaded build. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Mini Keyboard on Apple devices that you own or control. Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no responsibility for the apps or their content.

3. What Mini Keyboard is (and is not)

Mini Keyboard turns your iPhone into a keyboard (and, with the optional unlock, a trackpad) for your own Mac. After you pair the two apps by scanning a QR code shown on the Mac, keystrokes, pointer movement, scrolling and clicks travel directly from the iPhone to the Mac over your own local network, across an encrypted connection. There is no server in between: nothing you type passes through us, and the apps do not work across the internet — both devices must be on your own network.

Because input is delivered to the Mac exactly as if typed locally, Mini Keyboard is not a remote administration, monitoring or parental-control product, and it deliberately has no features for observing a Mac's screen or activity. It is an input device. The quality of the connection depends on your network; interference, congestion or OS-level network permissions can interrupt it.

4. No account required

There is no sign-up, no email address, and no login. Pairing state lives on your own devices (the Mac keeps the pairing secret in its Keychain), and choosing a new pairing code replaces it. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what the apps do and do not collect.

5. Purchases — the Trackpad unlock

Typing with Mini Keyboard is free and is never gated. The app offers a single optional in-app purchase, the Trackpad unlock, which enables the pull-up and full-screen trackpad. It is a one-time, non-consumable purchase — not a subscription: it never renews, and there is nothing to cancel. The price is shown in the app before you buy and is charged by Apple to your Apple ID. The unlock is tied to your Apple ID and is restored automatically on any device signed into it; a Restore Purchases button is also available in the app. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's own policies — we cannot issue them directly; request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

6. Acceptable use

Use Mini Keyboard only with Macs that you own, or that you are explicitly authorised to control. Do not pair with, or send input to, someone else's computer without their permission.
You are responsible for everything you type and for the consequences of the input the Mac receives, exactly as if you had typed it at that Mac.
Do not use the apps to violate any law, to circumvent security controls, or to interfere with networks or systems you are not authorised to use.
Do not reverse engineer, modify or redistribute the apps except to the extent a law expressly permits it, and do not circumvent the in-app purchase.

7. Disclaimers and no warranty

Mini Keyboard is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the connection will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of latency, or that every keystroke will be delivered in every network condition; do not rely on Mini Keyboard for input where a dropped or repeated keystroke could cause damage or loss (for example, safety-critical or irreversible operations). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of these Terms or the apps is limited to the amount you paid for Mini Keyboard in the twelve months before the claim.

8. Changes and termination

We may update Mini Keyboard, add or remove features, or discontinue it. Because the apps run entirely on your devices, discontinuation would not delete anything of yours. We may update these Terms; the date above changes when we do, and material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. You can stop using the apps at any time by deleting them; these Terms end then, except for the sections that by their nature survive (disclaimers, liability limits, governing law).

9. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the developer's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country. Questions about these Terms? Email kenz@kenzapps.com. We aim to reply within two business days.
